Some Workers Of Tata Steel Plant Meramandali Injured Due To Escape of Steam

Bhubaneswar, June 13: Some workers of Tata Steel Meramandali Plant in Dhenkanal district were injured due to the escape of steam at about 1 PM on Tuesday.

The injured were provided treatment inside the plant premises and then to Cuttack, Tata Steel said in a statement.

It said that after the accident, all emergency protocol services were activated and the area was cordoned off. The accident occurred during the course of the inspection work and has “affected a few people” working at the site.

“We are working closely with the relevant authorities on the ground and have initiated an internal investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.  Safety remains our top priority and we are committed to learning from this experience,” the statement said.
