Ram Mandir Donation: SBI had to increase its staff to count

The newly constructed Ram temple has received donations worth about Rs 25 crore, including 25 kg of gold and silver jewelery in a month after its consecration on January 22. Ram Mandir Trust office in-charge Prakash Gupta said that the amount of Rs 25 crore includes cheques, drafts and cash deposited in the temple trust office as well as the amount deposited in donation boxes.

He said, “However, we do not have information about the money sent through online medium to the bank accounts of the trust.” Gupta said, 'About 60 lakh devotees have visited since January 23.'

Gupta said, “The devotion of Ram devotees is such that they are donating items made of silver and gold for Ramlala, which cannot be used in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. “Despite this, considering the devotion of the devotees, the Ram Mandir Trust is accepting gold and silver items, jewellery, utensils and donations.”

The temple trust expects an increase in donations during the Ram Navami festival as around 50 lakh devotees are likely to visit Ayodhya at that time. According to Gupta, it is expected that a large amount of cash can be received in the form of donations during Ram Navami, in view of which State Bank of India has installed four automatic counting machines at Ram Janmabhoomi.
