11 Days' Induction Training Programme begins for Newly-Appointed WEOs
Bhubaneswar, October 3: The first phase of the Induction Training Programme for newly appointed Welfare Extension Officers (WEOs) was inaugurated today at the SCSTRTI, by Commissioner-cum-Secretary Roopa Roshan Sahoo.The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the newly appointed Welfare Extension Officers by Indramani Tripathy, IAS, Director ST, who emphasized on the critical role these officers play in promoting social welfare and community development. He briefly explained the objectives and structure of the training programme.
The Commissioner-cum-Secretary, ST & SC Development, M & BCW Department inaugurated the eleven-day induction training program. In her inaugural address, she emphasized on three key points like fundamental principles that should guide the actions and conduct of the WEOs. These principles encompass dedication, compassion, empathy, professional integrity, and a special focus on the safety and security of children. These qualities are vital in the social welfare sector, where the well-being of vulnerable individuals and communities is at stake.
Laxman Mallik, Director, SC, Welfare also inspired the participants to work with dedication and integrity. The session conducted by Prabir Kumar Khilar, Joint Secretary to Govt., provided valuable insights into the role and responsibilities of WEOs, as well as the mission, vision, and administrative mechanisms of the ST & SC Development Department. This foundational knowledge is essential for WEOs to align their efforts with the department's goals and objectives. This induction training program will not only equip WEOs with the necessary skills and knowledge but also fosters a sense of community and collaboration among them.
