Shunned Social Media & YouTube, Says JEE-Advance Topper; Read Here for More
Bhubaneswar, June 26: Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy from Telangana, who topped the JEE-Advance exam 2023 for a place in the IITs, stayed away from social media and Youtube during preparation.
Reddy, who is in the spotlight since the declaration of the results, scored 341 out of 360 marks and is looking forward to studying computer science at IIT Bombay. The topper shared his thoughtful advice in an interview, that IIT aspirants, looking at ways to crack the exam, should take note of.
“I won’t suggest studying all day. What is key to cracking the exam is interest in the subjects that make qualifying all the easier,” said Vavilala, confiding that he was hopeful of making it to the top 10.
"If you are really interested in maths and science then JEE will be easy. Go through previous years' question papers as practice. At the end of the day, interest and determination will go a long way,” he said.
"In Class 9 and 10, I just covered the relevant topics with interest. In 11 and 12, my days used to start at 8 am and I used to come home at 9:30 pm. My coaching centre was far from my home and I did most of my studies there and in school and barely studied at home," Mr Reddy told NDTV.
To a poser, he said, social media and YouTube videos are major distractors and he stayed away from them during the preparations.
JEE exams are considered one of the toughest competitive tests in the world. Yet lakhs prepare for, and only a few thousand qualify for admission to the premier technical institutes in the country including the NITs and IITs. This year, 1,80,372 students appeared in both papers in IIT-JEE Advanced of which 43,773 have qualified.
During his breaks, he allotted 30 minutes of his time to an hour to play games. I also played table tennis and Fussball to relax.
