12 Killed In Head-On-Collision Between Two Buses In Ganjam Dist

Bhubaneswar, June 26: Tragedy stuck in Ganjam district early today as a head-on-collision between two buses claimed 12 lives and left seven others with serious injuries.

Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek said the accident happened at around 1 AM. He said the collision happened between the OSRTC bus which was en route from Bhubaneswar to Rayagada and the private bus which was coming from Khandadeuli village in Ganjam district after attending a marriage celebration. 

The injured have been shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, two of whom have been referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital. Seven of the deceased were from the same family.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and free medical treatment to the injured victims, express his grief over the tragic incident.
