Goldman Sachs Predicts India To Surpass US Economy By 2075
Mumbai, June 24: India's economy is expected to surpass that of the United States by 2075, said a report released by US-based investment bank Goldman Sachs.
The report also highlights China's emergence as the leading global economy, with the United States and India following closely behind.
Titled "The Path to 2075 - Capital Market Size and Opportunity," the report emphasizes that emerging markets (EMs) will outperform developed markets, with seven of the top ten world economies being EMs by 2075.
Jan Hatzius, Chief Economist and Head of Global Investment Research at Goldman Sachs, stated, "In 2050, we project that China, the US, India, Indonesia, and Germany will be the world's five largest economies. By 2075, China, the US, and India are expected to remain the top three economies, and with the implementation of appropriate policies and institutions, seven of the world's top ten economies are projected to be EMs."
Hatzius further added, "We anticipate India to experience the most substantial increase in global market capitalization share - from just under 3 per cent in 2022 to 8 per cent in 2050 and 12 per cent in 2075. This growth reflects a favourable demographic outlook and rapid GDP per capita expansion."
Goldman Sachs' report offers a long-term perspective on the global economy, envisioning India's significant rise as a key player in the coming decades.
