Lady Pilot, Husband Trashed By Mob For Assaulting Minor Domestic Help

New Delhi, July 19: A pilot and her husband were trashed by a mob in the Dwarka area of the city and de-rostered by the airline for allegedly engaging a minor girl as domestic help, assaulting and inflicting injuries on her.

The case came to light after a video went live showing the couple being physically abused by the mob and relatives of the girl. The video also shows the girl with burn injuries on her arm and under her eyes. The pilot, still in her uniform, can be seen dragged by her hair by some women who repeatedly slapped her, even as her husband came to her rescue, pleading to leave them.

The police have arrested the couple while the airline is also probing the matter. "A medical examination has been conducted and the child has also been provided counselling. Based on her statement, we have registered a complaint under strict sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act,” news portal NDTV said quoting M Harsha Vardhan, a police officer. 

He said that a case will also be lodged against the girl’s parents upon their arrival from Bihar.
