Free School Dress To Class IX, X Students Sporting 'Ame Gadhibu Nua Odisha' Slogan
Bhubaneswar, July 11: The 'Mukhymantri Chhatra Chatri Paridhan Yojana' introduced by the Odisha government will now extend free uniform provisions to students in classes 9 and 10 attending state-run and aided schools. Previously, only students up to class 8 were eligible for free uniforms, according to an official statement.
Under this scheme, students will receive a comprehensive set of items, including two pairs of uniforms, one pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, a T-shirt, a track pant, and a cap. Distribution of the uniforms will commence on July 15, news agency PTI said quoting officials.
There have been minor modifications to the dress code as well. Boys will now wear a checkered white shirt paired with hunter green pants, while girls will wear a white salwar, green jacket, and kurta.
The newly provided uniforms will feature the emblem 'Ame Gadhibu Nua Odisha' (We Will Build New Odisha). Additionally, all students will be required to wear a T-shirt, track pants, and a cap on Saturdays. Letters addressing these changes have been sent by both the school and mass education departments, along with the Mission Shakti department.
The Directorate of Secondary Education has issued guidelines for the procurement and distribution of uniforms. The state plan will provide funding for the uniforms, amounting to Rs 1,000 per set. It is also mandatory for students to wear black shoes and white socks, as stated by the official.
