BMC Acts Against Sanitation Violator With a Tractor-load of Garbage
Bhubaneswar, July 20: In a tit-for-tat situation the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today dumped a tractor-load of garbage in front of a roadside eatery (dhaba) near Kalpana Square area and sealed the premises in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange.
The action was called for as the eatery Hotel Banshidhar was littering the area with its own garbage and waste. Reiterating the BMC commitment towards a ``Zero Tolerance Policy’’ towards keeping the city clean and green, Kulange said ``we have all facilities like door-to-door collection of garbage and the evening collection is also there to help the trading and eatery community members to dispose their wastes properly. However, any violations to this will be dealt with sternly.’’
Saying that the action on the eatery has been done to send a strong message to the general public, the Municipal Commissioner hoped that citizens would act sensibly and wisely to keep the city clean and also score a good place in the Swachh Sarvekshyan exercise.
