Bhubaneswar, July 20: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has once again expressed its strict adherence to the building plan approval norms as per Odisha Development Authority Act-1982 and has warned the violators of extreme consequences if found violating the rules as per the approval and BMC will soon start a random or serial check from each ward in near future.

While chairing a meeting at BMC Municipal Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange asked the Assistant Town Planner-1 Vipul Nayak, Assistant Town Planner-2 Sourav Mohapatra and Assistant Town Planner-3 Sasmita Guru to check the status and within the BMC limits any statutory violation as per the Building Plan Approval Norms will be dealt with sternly.

While the water harvesting structure will be mandatory for any houseof 300 square metre area, for a project with 20,000 square metres or more should have a sewerage treatment plant of its own. The environment and ecological and scientific angles will also be examined by the Planning Cell at BMC as per the norms of Odisha Development Authority Planning and Building Standards 2020.

It can be mentioned here that without any drainage plan/space for the same no plan will be approved. If there is any change in the use of the house, post-approval, then also strict actions would be taken against the house owner/s.

``With the State Government emphasizing more on scientific, sustainable and clean urban development guidelines for better livability index for the State Capital, the civic body will act strictly within the BMC boundaries,’’ the Commissioner said.
