Bulletproof Cars Worth Rs 400 Cr Bought For G20 Summit

New Delhi, Aug 23: The Centre is reported to have purchased bulletproof cars worth Rs 400 crore for VIP protection during the G20 summit at the national capital from September 8-10.

Media reports have claimed that the Ministry of External Affairs has got as many as 50 bulletproof Audi cars to ensure full-proof security of the visiting dignitaries. What makes the purchase interesting is the fact that the cars are left-handed. The driving rules, however, could be relaxed given the security concerns of the international leaders in mind.

The G20 summit will be attended by leaders of developed countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Australia as well as a host of developing countries including China, Brazil, South Africa etc.

Media reports also said that an advance team looking into the security of the US President has visited Delhi to look into the security issues. The city will be converted into a fortress during the summit. The Delhi Government has already announced public holidays during the summit days.
