City Taskforce Vows to Eliminate MR Under Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0

Bhubaneswar, September 3: Road map for elimination of Measles and Rubella by December 2023 under Intensified Mission Indradhanush –IMI 5.0 is to be implemented soon.

To make it a success in the jurisdiction of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), the task force meeting chaired by Mayor Sulochana Das in presence of Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange discussed the strategic planning for targeted coverage of routine immunization (RI). 

The strategic objective is to pick up left out, dropout or miss-dosed children from 0-5 years along with along with pregnant women who have missed doses; the drive is set to identify such cases and complete the immunization in special sessions.

The drive will be implemented by concerned wings of health department where technical support from start to finish is extended by WHO. 

While routine immunization is a mandate for preventing mother and child from different diseases; a comprehensive achievement of the programme is possible through converged efforts of administration, local leaders, RWAs, health department machinery and Anganwadis; told Mayor.

The drive will follow success stories of bigger cities to contextualize mobilization in BMC limit. Health professionals need to collect data from private hospitals of the city to facilitate data management on complete immunization. This will be helpful to enable the complete drive from September to November, said Commissioner. 

However, from 11th of the month the drive will start and continue till end of November to ensure comprehensive doses for the target groups. The dedicated identified cases will be registered in U-Win portal and vaccinated them in special planned sessions.

Action plan of the drive was elaborately discussed by Dr. Archana Gayen, Surveilance Medical Officer, WHO and colleagues. ADUPHO Dr. Antaryami Mishra, CHO Dr. Deepak Bisoyi, City Health Manager Neha Rajput were present in the meeting.
