Two Confirmed Deaths In Kerala From Nipah Virus
New Delhi Sept 12: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday confirmed two deaths in Kozhikode, Kerala because of Nipah virus.
The Minister said that a central team has left for the state to examine the matter and assist the State Government in preventing the spread of the virus. The Kerala administration has already set up a control room in the Kozhikode district and has advised the people to mask up.
Nipah virus usually spreads between animal and people. It is not an airborne infection.
State Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that his administration is viewing the death seriously and that the health department has alerted the locals to be careful.
