Tata Motors Opens Second Vehicle Scrapping Facility in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, July 24: Tata Motors has opened its second Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) here with advanced facilities.

The facility is operated digitally end to end and there are dedicated stations for safe dismantling of tyres, batteries, fuels and other components.

The new facility, inaugurated by Odisha Transport Minister, Tukuni Sahu, is christened as ‘Re.Wi.Re - Recycle with Respect’, where passenger and commercial vehicles across all brands will go for dismantling after the end of the 15-year life cycle.

The Bhubaneswar centre is the second RVSF from Tata Motors after it opened its Jaipur centre in Rajasthan in March this year. The company plans to have such facilities in all the states.

Rajesh Kaul, business head, Tata Motors said, “It is Odisha’s first registered vehicle scrapping unit. This is first step towards handling old vehicles and setting up a process which is world standard for disposal. First engine oils, fuel will be separated along with rubber, glass and other items. Most of the items will be recycled, including gear parts. It is a big step as some parts will be reused like rubber and other high-cost items like aluminium and nickel”.

Every vehicle in the facility will undergo meticulous documentation and dismantling process specifically designed to meet the requirements of passenger and commercial vehicles.
