Govt Asks Citizens To Follow These Steps To Protect Against Conjunctivitis; Find Out Here
Bhubaneswar, July 10: Amid a steady rise in the conjunctivitis cases across the State including the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the State Government has advised people to stay safe, dispelling concerns about depleting medicine stock.
Director of Public Health Dr Niranjan Mishra appealed the parents not to send their children to schools if they are infected with conjunctivitis.
He said since conjunctivitis is a contagious viral infection, children as well as the elderly population should maintain extreme caution.
The Department of Health and Family Welfare had issued a set of precautionary steps for the general public to remain safe from conjunctivitis. In a Tweet the Department asked the citizens not to touch eyes with unclean hands and not to share articles with affected people. It said that if a person is affected, he or she should take advice of a medical practitioner.
The Department further made it clear that there are adequate stocks available with the chemist such as antibiotic eyedrops. He said that the eyedrops are available both in Niramaya stores as well as in private pharmacies.
