Government To Launch Super App For Electric Vehicle Charging & Battery Swapping

Mumbai, June 22: The government is set to introduce a new all-inclusive mobile application within the next two months. This app aims to provide extensive details regarding electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery swapping stations, including their capacity and locations, said media reports,

Officials, as quoted in the reports, stated that charging point operators and equipment manufacturers have collaborated to share the necessary information with the upcoming app.

Presently, if an individual owns a Tata electric car, they can only access information about Tata's charging infrastructure. However, the forthcoming app will enable users to view charging infrastructure from various providers such as MG, Mercedes, EESL, and others. The officials mentioned that this feature will be available within the next two months.

The app will offer valuable insights, including the operational hours of the charging stations. Currently, there are more than 7,000 public charging stations, but considering the growing number of electric four-wheelers in India, it is estimated that a charging station is required for every 75 vehicles.

Overall, this initiative by the government aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for EV owners by providing a centralized platform with comprehensive information about charging and battery-swapping facilities
