Cong Suspends Md Moquim and Chiranjib Biswal for Anti-party Activities

Bhubaneswar, July 15: The Congress High Command has suspended MLA Md Moquim and former MLA Chiranjib Biswal. According to party sources, both the senior leaders of the national party have been placed suspension following a complaint lodged by PCC President Sarat Patnaik.

AICC has also issued a statement in this regard. AICC General Secretary and Member Secretary, Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) Tariq Anwar in a press release on July 15 has said that both the leaders were involved in ``anti-party activities’’. The press release also said that the matter raised by Patnaik was referred to the DAC and the committee had issued notices to both the leaders asking them for explanations. The replies received from them were carefully considered by the DAC and found unsatisfactory.

Accordingly, the DAC has decided to place both of the Odisha Congress leaders under suspension from the party with immediate effect. Meanwhile PCC President Sarat Patnaik has said that he had nothing to speak on this as it is the action taken by party High Command. ``I am preparing for a fight against BJD and BJP with a united approach. If anyone creates issues in this or acts with indiscipline, then he/she will be dealt with sternly,’’ he observed.
