MLA, Mayor Distribute Fruits, Blankets to SUH Inmates on Local Self Govt Day

Bhubaneswar, August 31: On the occasion of the Local Self Government Day (LSGD), 2023, MLA (Bhubaneswar North) Sushant Rout, Mayor Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar and Corporators of Ward No. 40 Asia Begum and Ward No. 46 Pushpa Rout , respectively went to Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH) along with senior BMC officials and distributed fruits and blankets.

While the SUH at Ashok Nagar is managed by Vikash, the SUH at Ganganagar is managed by Odisha Patita Uddhar Samiti (OPUS). The inmates were overwhelmed to see the MLA, Mayor, Deputy Mayor and senior BMC officials and also tied ``Rakhi’’ to the dignitaries.

The Mayor spoke to the SUH inmates and took stock of their situation and asked the SUH managing organisations and officials to do their best for the urban homeless. Among the BMC officials Zonal Deputy Commissioner RN Jethi and Deputy Commissioner (Welfare) Snehalata Acharaya were present. BMC has several SUHs across the city to look after the urban homeless.
