BMC Commissioner Reviews Dengue Prevention Measures, Calls for Continued Vigilance

Bhubaneswar, September 12: BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange conducted a comprehensive review yesterday of the ongoing efforts to combat dengue in Bhubaneswar through a video conference. The meeting saw the participation of several key officials, including Additional Commissioner Subhendu Sahu, Additional Citizen Health Officer Dr. Deepak Kumar Bisoi, health officers from the City Health Mission, all Deputy Commissioners, Zonal Commissioners, and senior BMC officials.

While acknowledging that the dengue situation in Bhubaneswar is currently under control, Commissioner  highlighted the importance of continued vigilance in areas with reported cases. He stressed the need for sustained community awareness efforts and directed officials to closely monitor activities such as bush cutting and sanitation in these areas. Additionally, the Commissioner outlined the procedure for reporting dengue cases to government hospitals and monitoring the corresponding blood tests.

Commissioner  emphasized the significance of a door-to-door awareness campaign involving medical professionals, which will further strengthen community mobilization. He urged doctors to actively participate in this campaign, which is set to run for the next seven days, starting tomorrow. The campaign will be particularly focused on the Sahid Nagar, Nayapalli, Patia Acharya Vihar, and Unit 9 areas.

Commissioner highlighted that this collaborative approach between Team BMC and the Health Department will propel the campaign forward. He underlined the BMC's commitment to proactively addressing dengue, emphasizing that the campaign should continue, especially in areas with confirmed cases. This sustained effort is seen as a positive practice that enhances community well-being.
