Flood-Like Situation Grips North Balasore Due to Incessant Rains

North Balasore district is facing a grave flood-like situation as incessant rains continue to lash the region for the past 24 hours. The torrential downpour has led to waterlogging in low-lying areas, causing significant distress to residents.

In the last 24 hours, the region has experienced heavy rainfall, with the highest recorded in Baliapal block at 180 mm. Bhograi block followed closely with 173 mm, while Jaleswar block received 135 mm of rainfall. The lowest recorded rainfall of 63 mm was noted in Jaleswar block.

The situation has become critical as the affected four blocks in North Balasore are adjacent to areas in Mayurbhanj district and extensive regions covered by Nayagram, Dantun, Mohanpur, Egra, and Digha police stations in West Bengal. The impact of the heavy rains is stretching across multiple regions, exacerbating the challenges faced by authorities in managing the crisis.

As a result of the rising waters, several areas are bracing for potential inundation. The villages of Netua, Sampada, Nampo, Khalina, Khuluda, Vartana, Sugo, Nachhimpur, Nahra, Balim, Nachinda, Kushuda, Gabgaon, Mahagava, Gunasartha, Siyanroi, Kulida, Putina, Kachuari, Maheshpur, Basta block, Bahrada, and Bachhakari of Bhograi block are under threat as the water levels continue to rise.

Local authorities are on high alert, and evacuation measures are being put in place to safeguard the lives and property of the affected communities. Rescue teams are actively working to assist those stranded in flooded areas and provide relief to those displaced by the disaster.
