WODC Holds 62nd Council Meeting: Expenditure of Rs 62.07 Cr Gets Approved
Bhubaneswar : The 62nd Council Meeting of Western Odisha Development Council was held at the Conference Hall of WODC headquarters at Rajiv Bhawan. Presiding over the meeting, the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman, WODC Asit Tripathy welcomed all the members including the MLAs, Advisor, Expert Members and both the RDC from Northern and Southern Division.
Out of the additional grant of Rs 125 Crore given by the Chief Minister for completion of incomplete Kalyan Mandaps, Community Centers and Mandaps, expenditure to the tune of Rs 62 Crore 7 lakhs for completion of 741 Mukhya Mantri Sabhaghar was approved in the meeting.
The CEO, WODC, Dr Ajit Kumar Mishra presented the agenda for discussion in the meeting. Approval of Rs 118.82 Cr was accorded for 1415 people-oriented development projects undertaken within the period from 1st April to 21st August 2023 as recommended by the MPs, MLAs, PRI Members and Collectors of 11 districts.
In the Council Meeting the MLAs appreciated the steps taken by WODC for augmenting the completion of Mukhya Mantri Sabhaghars in various parts of Western Odisha. Hon’ble MLAs from Khariar and Bargarh stressed on the fact that WODC is playing its role with zeal and vigor fulfilling the basic aim for which it was
established with an objective of removing the regional imbalances in development process.
Chairman Tripathy called upon the joint endeavor of people’s representatives, members from civil society and the field level officials for timely completion of ongoing projects with focus on Eco Tourism and people friendly infrastructure.
The meeting was attended Debesh Acharya, MLA Bargarh; Pradeep Dishari, MLA Lanjigarh and Shri Adhiraj Mohan Panigrahi, MLA, Khariar along with Narayan Sahu, Advisor and and Expert Members from the
operational districts.
Responding to proposals raised by Expert Members, Chairman Tripathy mentioned about the Council’s stand for construction of multipurpose halls in all the Govt Aided Colleges of Western Odisha and construction of a Western Odisha Museum for preservation and display of Folk Art, musical instruments and cultural artefacts.
