Baripada to Have a 50-Bed Cancer Centre at PRM Medical College & Hospital

Baripada: The North Odisha district of Mayurbhanj will soon have a 50-bedded Cancer Centre on the campus of Pandit Raghunath Murmu (PRM) Medical College and Hospital. The centre will be established in collaboration with the the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Mumbai. The State Government has earmarked more than Rs 47 crore for the facility.

The new cancer centre will start its work from January 2024, but can be fully operational from July 2024. Additional Director (Non-Communicable Diseases) Dr Sushant Kumar Swain said ``by 2024 the cencer registry will start working at the centre and for this a five-membered high-level delegation from Tata Memorial Hospital has already arrived in Baripada and discussing the modalities with the administrative heads at the local medical college and hospital.

During the first phase the high-level team has met the authorities of the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital, local CDMO and other senior Health and Family Welfare Department officials. Today the team also participated in a CME at Pandit Raghunath Murmu (PRM) Medical College and Hospital and also at a special meeting with Dr Ajit Kumar Mohanty Chairman Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India.
