City Mission Manager of Baripada Municipality Arrested on Bribery Charges
Baripada, August 24: On the allegation of demanding bribe from Mission Sakthi Self-Help Group (SHG) for giving work order against, City Mission Manager of Baripada Municipality, discreet enquiry was conducted and on the basis of the enquiry and FIR the consultant was arrested and remanded to custody yesterday .
The accused Manager of City Mission Management Unit (CMMU) Manoranjan Panigrahi was allegedly demanding bribe to the SHG concerned to continue their association of supply of meals to the Aahar Centre in Baripada town.
According to sources, Maa Santoshi SHG from Raghurajpur had received work order to supply meals to an Aahar Centre in Baripada town and it was supplying food. However, subsequently a complaint was lodged against the SHG regarding supply of below standard food to the Aahar centre. Later the CMMU manager had threatened the SHG to blacklist them basing on the complaint lodged against them. It was further alleged that Panigrahi has demanded bribe to the SHG to continue their work order for the Aahar centre.
According to the complaint lodged, the CMMU had taken a bribe of Rs 34,000 from the SHG and to make them continue with the work order he had demanded another Rs 3 lakh. The SHG members have informed the Municipality authorities and a police complaint was filed in Bhanjapur PS against the CMMU. After the enquiry the police arrested Panigrahi yesterday.
