BMC's Bold Strides Towards Urban Development: Work Orders Issued Under MUKTA & Jaga Mission
Bhubaneswar, September: Making a significant step towards urban development and empowerment, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) distributed work orders for projects under the MUKTA and Jaga Mission initiatives.
The program, held at the SoA Auditorium, witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including Ministers from H&UD, Usha Devi, W&CD Basanti Hembram, MLA Central Bhubaneswar Ananta Narayana Jena, MLA North Bhubaneswar Susant Rout, Mayor Sulochana Das, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhara, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange, and Additional Commissioners Laxmikanta Sethi, Subhendu Sahu, Suryavanshi Mayur Vikash, and City Engineer Arun Kumar Nayak, among others. All beneficiaries from SHGs and SDAs, along with the BMC team, were in attendance at the event.
Following the welcome address, the Commissioner Shri Vijay Amruta Kuoange mentioned that ,these initiatives are pivotal in expanding the reach and impact of the MUKTA scheme, aligning with the Hon'ble Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s vision to empower women.
Today, BMC takes immense pride in distributing 670 work orders through the dedicated MUKTA App, paving the way for 572 Self Help Groups (SHGs) to contribute to inclusive development.
The combined value of these work orders for these groups stands at a remarkable Rs 71 crore. The commitment to progress extends to the Jagga Mission, with 463 work orders amounting to Rs 48 crore being distributed. These orders will engage 535 Slum Dwellers Associations (SDAs), further strengthening community involvement.
In total, a staggering 1107 SHGs & SDAs will participate in various activities, driving holistic development within our city.
Due to the pressing demands from multiple wards and the corporators within the BMC jurisdiction, over 2300 proposals were submitted to the state government. Remarkably, the Chief Minister has granted approval for all these projects under MUKTA 2.0, allocating a record-breaking sum of 145 crores in total.
Not only that but BMC has gone a step further this year by extending support to Transgender SHG groups under the MUKTA scheme, promoting diversity and inclusivity, in alignment with the state government's vision.
Mayor emphasized that under the JAGA Mission, an array of projects spanning 9 sectors, including Electricity, Road, Water, city beautification, parks, dedicated zones for women vendors, water bodies rejuvenation, and landscaping, rainwater harvesting project, and certification of Biju Adarsha Colony, will rejuvenate our cityscape in alignment with the 5T concept, elevating its vibrancy and functionality.
She mentioned that thetime has arrived to reach new heights and turn the dream of our Hon'ble CM into reality, a feat that will be accomplished through the dedication of our Mission Shakti Maa,
The Chief Minister has made a significant announcement, stating that an investment of 5000 crore rupees will be made over the next 5 years, not only in Bhubaneswar but throughout the entire state, through MUKTA. As of now, 2200 crores have already been utilized, and the remaining amount will be disbursed soon, as confirmed by the Deputy Secretary of H&UD.
For the first time in India, the distribution of MUKTA work orders is facilitated through a dedicated application developed by BMC, known as the MUKTA App.
W&CD Minister Basanti Hembram, highlighted the shifting dynamics of our society, where women, who were traditionally responsible for managing households while men worked outside, have now embraced newfound independence. Through their participation in MUKTA, women have not only achieved financial empowerment but also gained social parity with men.
Minister for Housing and Urban Development Usha Devi, emphasized that these initiatives stand as a strong commitment to both women's empowerment and the progress of our urban landscape.
MUKTA and Jaga Mission, she stated, are driving inclusive development within our city, and women are playing a crucial role in delivering high-quality work efficiently to propel our city to the top position.
The launch of the MUKTA App was a significant highlight of today's event. This application provides beneficiaries with access to information regarding investments, work orders, and more.
The unique feature of this occasion was that beneficiaries received their work orders instantly through the app, leading to joyous moments as they proudly displayed their mobile screens at the event.
Over 1100 SSGs and SDAs graced this event today. The vote of thanks was delivered by Additional Commissioner Suryavanshi Mayur Vikash.
