UDAN Plan: Odisha Govt Deposits Rs 26.30 Cr to Defence Estate Office for Transfer of Rasgovindpur Airstip Land

Bhubaneswar, September 5:  The development of Ragovindpur Airstrip to a functional airport under the ambitious UDAN Scheme, seems just a step ahead with the State Government requesting the Director, Interim Test Range (ITR) Chandipur to start the process of handing over of 160.45 acres of Defence land to the State Government for the development of Rasgovindpur Airstrip near Amarda Road in Mayurbhanj district.

In a letter written by Deputy Secretary Kalpataru Routray of the Commerce and Transport Department, Government of Odisha, funds to the tune of Rs 26.03 odd crore has already been deposited to the bank accounts of the Defence Estate Officer, Odisha Circle, Bhubaneswar ``towards the cash compensation for handing over of the 160.35 acres of land to the State Government for development of the Rasgovindpur Airstip under UDAN (Infra) Scheme for development air connectivity across India.

The letter has also said that the district magistrate and collector, Mayurbhanj has also been nominated for taking over of the Defence land on behalf of Government of Odisha. The letter, thus has requested the Director ITR, Chandipur to initiate the process for handing over of the above land in favour of DM & Collector Mayurbhanj as per Para 3 (VI) of working permission communicated of under secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Defence.
