Instagram Threads App Set To Disrupt Social Media Space?
The social media space is set to see a newer entrant in the game, only that it could upset the game for the rest.
Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, which owes Facebook and Instagram with a combined user base of 3 billion, will unveil the Instagram Threads App on July 6, widely seen as a potential rival to Twitter.
Threads is already available in Google Play and Apple store, but users have to wait till July 6 to download and start using it.
“Thread is where communities come together and discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what will be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you are interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favourite creators and others who love the same things – or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity to the world,” said a brief teaser to the App.
It will be a ‘Twitter killer,” Money Control reported quoting some tech enthusiasts. But a section advised wait and watch because new products from the Meta stable have faltered as well. They included the ‘Bulletin’.
Twitter is undergoing a phase of reinvention ever since the powerful social media platform was bought by Elon Musk. Retaining and adding user base has proved a major challenge for the company. Over the week, Musk has announced restricting the number of Tweets that both registered and unregistered users can read. Report also suggests that TweetDeck, a popular desktop app with journalists, could become a paid service.
