Hills Bordering Bhubaneswar To Be Transformed Into Biodiversity & Ecological Parks

 

Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: The Odisha Government has decided to transform three hills bordering the state capital into biodiversity and ecological parks to offset the environmental damage caused by the rapid urbanisation of the city, the New Indian Express has reported.

 

Hills that are being transformed into biodiversity hotspots:

 

1.    Sikharchandi Hills: A massive plantation drive will be carried out entailing an expenditure of Rs 3.52 Cr. The plantation includes 10,000 saplings of indigenous varieties.

2.    Bachhera Hill Park, Jatni: This will be developed into an ecological park over 30 acres.

3.    Buddha Hilltop, Buddha Jayanti Park: Amenities that have already been completed are nature trail, cycle trek, pathway and garden lighting. The government has sanctioned Rs 80 lakh and the plantation drive will be completed by this monsoon.
