71 mm Rainfall In 1.5 Hrs & Scary Lightning Bring Life To Standstill in Capital City
Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: The Capital City along with Cuttack witnessed unprecedented rainfall and lightning for close to two hours this afternoon, leaving many areas marooned and throwing normal life out of gear.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Bhubaneswar recorded 71 mm of rainfall in just one and a half hours. Along with the rainfall, frightening thunderbolts and lightning left the residents in panic.
The weather department had forecast rain during the day, but the sudden change of weather left the commuters off-guard. Rain accompanied by lightening is expected during the next five days as well
Initial reports suggested that low-lying areas in both cities remained inundated, even as power supply was being restored gradually.
