Doctor Brutally Attacked in Bihar for Treating Rape Survivor’s Mother

Gaya, June 5: In a shocking incident that has sparked widespread outrage, Dr. Jitendra Yadav, a doctor in Bihar’s Gaya district, was brutally assaulted on Tuesday for treating the mother of a gang rape survivor.

According to reports, Dr. Yadav visited the survivor’s home to administer saline water to her ailing mother. As he began treatment, a group of eight individuals, including five women and three men, allegedly barged into the house. The assailants, reportedly linked to the accused in the 2021 gang rape case involving the survivor, attacked the doctor under the misconception that he was there to support the family’s legal battle. 

The mob also assaulted the survivor’s family, including her elderly mother and daughter, before dragging Dr. Yadav outside, tying him to a tree, and beating him mercilessly with iron rods. 

A disturbing video of the assault, showing the doctor bloodied and tied up, has since gone viral on social media, fueling public anger.

The survivor’s mother alleged that the attack was connected to their ongoing court case. 

Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav condemned the incident, sharing the video on X and stating, “The situation in Bihar is worse than the Taliban. A doctor who went to treat a rape survivor’s mother was tied to a tree and beaten until he was drenched in blood.” 

He criticized the state’s NDA government, alleging that the police and administration have failed to curb crime, allowing mob justice to prevail.
