IGNOU to Offer Courses in Odia Under MoU with Odisha Govt
Bhubaneswar, June 9: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has signed an MoU with the Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha, to offer its academic programmes in the Odia language.
The initiative aims to improve access to higher education for Odia-speaking learners, particularly in rural and tribal areas, by removing language barriers.
Signed in the presence of Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Uma Kanjilal, the agreement includes the translation and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programmes in Odia.
IGNOU will provide Odia-language academic materials, counselling, learner support, and evaluations—advancing the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and boosting Odisha’s Gross Enrolment Ratio.
