Ranjana Gauhar Conferred Lifetime Achievement Award at 13th Margi Festival

Bhubaneswar, June 27: Well-known Odissi dance institution Nrutyashala's 13th Margi Festival kick-started today at Rabindra Mandap. The First evening started with a performance by New Delhi based International Odissi dancer Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar. She staged Mangala Charan, Jagannath Stuti, ‘Rati Sukha Sare..... From Gita Govinda and danced to the song, which is Raga- Kalyani, Tal - Ektali and the dance was choreographed by Guru Mayadhara Rout. She was also conferred the "Lifetime Achievement Award."

During the second phase Bandita Ghosal brought ‘Mu Jani Jani Karichhi Mana" written by Gopal Krishna and choreographed by Guru Ashok Kumar Ghosal. 

In the third solo dance number ‘Sanginire chahain benu pani ku...... was performed by Binod Kevin Bachan and a duet dance ‘Shiba Panchaka .... performed by Sachikanta Pradhan and Swagatika Pradhan.

Finally Bhubaneswar ‘Pragnya Nrutyayana Performance Group's dance “Dasa Mahavidya” touched everybody's heart, which was choreographed by Guru Durga Charan Ranbir and directed by Guru Swayampragnya Sahoo. 

In the programme MLA Mahanga Pratap Jena, Retired bureaucrat and Independent Director SAIL Ashok Tripathy, Odissi Guru Durga Charan Ranbir and Mardala Guru Dhaneswar Swain were present.

Festival Director Guru Ashok Ghosal said "the major objective of Margi Festival is to promote Odissi dance and provide a platform for the younger artists to perform.
