Odisha is located south of the Tropic of Cancer and has a tropical climate. The western districts of Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Mayurbhanj are hot almost throughout the year with maximum temperatures ranging between 40-46°C and are unbearably cold in winters.
