Former Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Discharged from Mumbai Hospital After Successful Spine Surgery
Bhubaneswar, July 7: Naveen Patnaik, the former Chief Minister of Odisha and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president, was discharged today from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, following a successful cervical spine surgery.
The Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly had been recovering steadily since the procedure on June 22, 2025, and his discharge marks a significant milestone in his recovery journey.
Patnaik underwent surgery to address cervical arthritis, a condition that required medical intervention.
The procedure, overseen by renowned heart surgeon Dr. Ramakanta Panda and performed by Dr. S. Rajasekaran from Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore, lasted approximately four hours.
Post-surgery, Patnaik was shifted from the ICU to a private room last week, with doctors reporting steady progress in his recovery. Dr. Panda had earlier indicated that the former CM would require regular physiotherapy post-discharge to ensure a full recovery.
